I believe Iron Man 3 was in the category of a close adaptation because most of the literary elements were kept inside the film. I don't believe the film dropped any elements. It might of enhanced some areas, like the fact that the film had Tony Stark controlling multiple Iron Men. Or the story line with the manderine. But for the most [art the movie was about the Extremist drug and the super soldiers it was creating.
The Film can also be represented as a Transposition because the director did have the intent on making the best intentions toward the author of the graphic novel. The main plot is there, and there are no significant losses translated in the film.
In my opinion, the adaptation from the Iron Man graphic novel to the big screen did it justice, but also enhanced it in certain stylized forms.
I totally agree with you. I loved how they kept mostly everything from the graphic novel.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I didnt really notice that many elements that were dropped, but there was a good amount of things added to the movie. And with Dr. Aldrich's part in the movie, it was completely different than that of the comic. Kisses Kevin!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, what? They changed nearly everything!!!! They kept Extremis, Maya, Mallen, and a snippet of Killing, but where was Sal, the Waco-like politics of Mallen, the entire political and ethical question of creating new technologies that can be used for good, but essentially cause destruction? Ok, there's a little of that in there with the Vice President's daughter, but only a snippet whereas in the Graphic Novel, that was everything. They also took the importance of Maya out and she was Tony's foil, not Killian in the sense that she sold her soul and her ethics in the pursuit of good intentions just like he does (making his fortune off of selling his creations to the military). I could soooooo go on!!! Don't get me started!!! ;-)
